Notes The missing front of the case would've been B 1-22, the Capture of Major Andre. They've converted the case into a wall frame by placing a metal hook on a nail on the back of the case. "Genuine Union Case, Improved. Fine Gilt and Burnished Hinge. S. Peck's Patent. Oct 3rd. 1854. H. Halverson's Patent, Aug 7th 1855, Assigned to S. Peck." Another image of the same boy was taken in Glasgow, Scotland by William Dickson. This image is likely by the same photographer, as he used similar materials for both images. They both have an American mat but a British preserver in the same style. |
