"From the Great Eastern Liverpool Exhibition Photographers"
The Great Eastern was a steamship build by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
In 1886 the ship was docked at Liverpool to serve as an advertisement for
Lewis's Department Store, as well as a floating exhibition one could visit for a
shilling.
She was sold for scrap in 1888, after having been visited by 500.000 people.
Between May 12th and October 1886 the ship remained at Liverpool, before touring
the country. The papers mention the many activities aboard the ship, including
"photographic
galleries" where this photo was once made.
