Notes Early plate with Beard Patentee mat. Low in contrast and gray in tone. Tin tray behind the image. Signed "Barber" on the back. In 1841 Alfred Barber was active as a photographer in Nottingham. He had previously worked for Richard Beard, received a patent in 1841, which he then lost again in 1843 after Beard sued him. |
